OMG. I WENT TO SEE TWILIGHT!

AND I LOVED IT!
IT WAS AWESOME/ FANTASTIC/ BREATH-TAKING (...right... you get the drift)

I think its one of the best book-adapted movies ever! In honor of the movie, I've even changed my blog header! Seriously, this movie already has a ranking in my Top Ten Most Loved Movies list. I want to see it again!

Of course, hypothetically speaking, one should really try not to compare it to the books. Books, in my humble opinion, always convey more than a movie. However, this movie totally stood on its own. I mean, you wouldn't have to read the books to get the inside jokes, the charisma between the cast and the low-down on the storyline. Congrats to Summit Entertainment for producing a very, very commendable film version of Twilight that could stand on its own two legs!

I loved the subtle plots changes that weren't too hopeless (I hated how they twisted the Harry Potter scenes), which gave even more meaning to the movie! I loved the little sarcastic jokes here and there! Jacob was spot-on! Erm...Edward was Edward? I've never really been into choking Robert Pattinson over Edward because I felt he actually brought out the vulnerability that the books have always focused upon. I actually enjoyed his performance! Alice, sigh, perfection! I loved the Cullens in more than one way- the baseball scene took my breathe away and the cooking scene was awkwardly funny! I really cracked up during the graduation cap joke! So all in all, I think this is the first book-to-movie feature that I actually enjoyed! Lord of the Rings really can't fall into this criteria because there were really too many details in the books which were omitted. Basically, LOTR held the essence of the books intact. Twilight not only had the essence, it had the 'omph' factor too!

Highlight of the movie: The meadow scene where Edward glitters! It was so...surreal yet believable. I've never been able to correctly grasp what the books were illustrating about 'glittering in the sun'. Ahhhh... now I see. It was beautiful without being overly cheesy. Just the right touch of magic! I now dream of diamonds!

Then again, being a hard-core fan of the books, I really didn't like the way Kristen Steward played Bella. Too angst-y for my liking. There were certain moments where she really did convey Bella's adorableness...but these adorable moments were really too far and apart for my liking- which had me contemplating how Emily Browning would have done Bella...in the middle of the film...which showed how much I disliked Kristen's performance.

I also didn't like the fact that they cut off Alice's role in the movie. Fyi, when the Tracker, James, started to hunt Bella, it was because he had actually wanted Alice all those years ago. That was the underlying motive towards his hunt for Bella. To him, Bella represented a way to get back at the Cullens for cheating him of Alice all those years ago. An eye for an eye, one could say. Hmph... cutting that whole plot out really didn't do the movie enough justice.

Anyway, outside of those two little rants, I really have to say that I can't wait for New Moon! Summit Entertainment has already officially announced that they will be making the sequel to Twilight! The script is being written as we speak! Muahahahhahahahhah!

Now, I'm going to go harass Little Brother (1) to accompany me to see Twilight again! Sadly, Little Brother (2) is away at camp.

Priceless moments in the film. Love Alice/Jasper Love.

Mood:
A HAPPY Twilight fan.
I really love the ALICE moments!
(She has a really wicked pitch)

In-betweens

- In between my university responsibilities and my holidays

- In between my precious sleep and hours of staring blankly at the ceiling

- In between feeling happy that my waistline is still slim and irritated that my jeans now hang loose

- In between smiling and frowning, at the idiocy of my Little Brother(s) 1 and 2

- In between being Overjoyed and feeling Apprehensive of finally getting my dream come true!

- In between Vogue Girl Korea and Teen Vogue. Which is the lesser of two evils?

- In between cutting out sugary sweets to repair my skin and eating all I want during a buffet!

- In between waiting for Twilight and reading Breaking Dawn

- In between finding time for me, myself and my dear family

- In between deciding to choose a nice gift or just merely a warm hug

- In between celebrating Papa's big day while awaiting Mom's next month!

- In between weaning myself off odd sleeping hours and exerting my independence that I CAN sleep late.

So many In-Betweens,
I'm lost at the junction.

As promised, dear Fish,
A pic from Vogue Girl Korea!
GOOD LUCK for your internship!
Go get 'em, gal!

A twist in my story

(Yes. The title is from Secondhand Serenade!)
('Its time I opened up and let your love right through me')

Since I'm taking a breather from studying- I'll be replying my dear Chen's tag!

I'm kinda paranoid about pictures, so this tag wasn't very easy:
Answer the questions below,
do a Google Image Search with your answer,
take a picture from the first page of results,
and do it with minimal words of explanation.
Tag 5 other people to do the same once you've finished answering every question.

Ah well, Right!
Here goes:

1) The age you'll be on your next birthday

Yewp. Finally a independent adult.
My boobs haven't arrived though. (glum)

2) A place you'd like to travel

Tsk. I'll put places instead of 'place' because there are so many places I wanna go!
Paris to see The Louvre.
And to Rue Cambon for my Chanel 2.55!

Japan!

And Bangkok!
I want to shop till I drop in Chak tu Chak market!

3) Your favourite place

Say Thanks to everyone in my life-
for providing me with meaningful memories and such a vibrant life.

Say Thanks to the Almighty Being up there for granting me such a good life.
I wouldn't have lived any other way.

And since I'm saying Thank You- I'll give out something more:

Because sometimes, you just need one!

High on Magazine editorials

Currently- I feel like this:

Tired to the extent of falling asleep right on top of my books- too much expropriation of my brain cells, I'm telling you.

But Father Dearest still says: 'I don't see you studying- am I really paying the university to have you slob around all day?'

Methinks its cos coincidentally, every single time I take a break, its the time he gets home from work. =_____=

Anyway, since I think I'm rather close to the economic theory of Diminishing Returns; its safer to let those oh-so-important brain cells cool off AND re-juice themselves on fantastical and whimsical interpretations of fashion.

British Vogue December 2008 has saved me from the brink of losing my study mood. Its 'Tales of the Unexpected', reliving Roald Dahl's lovable children's books, takes me back to childhood and dreams of Giant Peaches that make the world a better, much better place.

I think this is my favorite piece of fashion editorial thus far- I used to love the Marie Antoinette spread back in 2006...but this darling has taken my breath away. Its pure fantasy elements mixed with the beautiful, beautiful British people who exude such a sense of naughty sophistication...that just wins me over. Fashion orgasm indeed.

I love the way Tim Walker has re-captured the childlike innocence of Dahl's books with an adult eye. Its innocent but not too innocent if you get what I mean, in every one of these pictures, a moody- everyday- grown up feel is there, right along with the childish whimsicality that is so Dahl. Its me as a 7 year old reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and me seeing it through a 20 year old's eyes. These pictures take you back to memory lane while injecting a wicked sense of fashion into Dahl's now very, very fashionable fantasy world.

Enjoy together with me: (Click on pictures for a larger, orgasmic view)

Matilda-
Miss Honey, the sweetest teacher on Earth!

James and the Giant Peach-
Karen Elson re-enacting the Giant Peace scene.
Take me away with you!

The Magic Finger-
Helena Bonham Carter grows a tail!

The Twits-
Everyone is always watching!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-
Dear friends, we surely all agree,
there's almost nothing worse to see,
than some repulsive little bum,
who's always chewing chewing gum!

James and the Giant Peach, again-
The Old Green-Grasshopper plays a lullaby for all.

My favorite Dahl quote:
Everyone is born, but not everyone is born the same.
Some will grow to be butchers, or bakers, or candlestick makers.
Some will only be really good at making Jell-O salad.
One way or another, though, every human being is unique, for better or for worse

I can blog because this is Change!

Rejoice!

Barack Obama is now the 44th President of the United States of America.

This is an age of change indeed!

Malaysia- where are we now?

I can sleep better and wake up with new sense of being, a new hope-
because of the fact that a new pace in history has been set.

It is not wrong to want change,
it is not wrong to hope for change!

Congratulations, America!

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.
We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
"

- Barack Obama

Woke up on the wrong side of the bed

-Speechless-

WHY? What is that Rodarte Dress doing on Britney?

Words fail to express my horror.

-Rolls eyes-

SHE ISN'T EVEN WEARING IT PROPERLY,
with the due respect that it deserves.
On her (pfftt) it looks like a cheap tutu!

Oh, Laura and Kate Mulleavy!

How did this happen?!?

This is just so, so, so wrong.

Picture not even worthy of a credit mention.

I really dislike whoever put her in that dress.

Exodermis

- Parents are asleep.

- Just realized that my dad labels my friends according to location- so far, there's Bumiko Girl,
Curry Fish Head Girl, Pujut 7 Boy, Senadin Fella and Tupperware Guy. No points or gifts for guessing who. Phew...others who he sees on a 'regular' basis or whose parents he knows, he remembers their names. Bias much?

- My eyes are swollen.

- Exams on the 10th, 11th and 20th. (=___=) yea... long, horrible in-between break that will test the limits of my inner strength.

- Friends from Aussie flying back soon!

- Old Soul's Day is tomorrow- erm- today...

- Thinking that my hair is getting too long. Chop chop soon?

- Note to self: LEARN how to apply eyeliner.

- TWILIGHT out on the 21st! Sadly, when me and dear Fish went to the local cinema to inquire about pre-booked tickets, the guy had the audacity to say "Twilight?" with a very puzzled air. Apalah! You work in show business okay!

- Jealous of Cindy and all the cakes she is baking. I want one!

- Envious of Jen and his tulips. Grrrrr...

- Waiting for that call...which will change my outlook of life and challenge me out of my comfort zone...(its really important! can't disclose details until THE CALL, sad news or good news notwithstanding) wtf, it sounds so bloody cliché !

- This piece of Rodarte art is my current wallpaper. Note the use of 'art' instead of 'pic'. I think very highly of the sisters Mulleavy.

There are always snitches of time,
or moments of moments,
where you feel bared to the world,
impossibly vulnerable,
yet,
for once,
blissfully honest,
without needing to hide behind any mask.
