What I Should Tell Myself #1

a.
Have you ever experienced this rush of excitement that starts from your tummy then fills up your whole body? A head-spinning type of feeling that makes you smile so wide that you think you're going to burst out laughin? A tingling prickly sensation that makes your hairs stand on ends coupled with a positively euphoric sense of certainty?

Mode:
Currently searching for this brand of happiness.

b.
Last semester, I went to class just to see a smile. It was a nice smile. It wasn't captivating, it wasn't glamorous, it wasn't sexy. It was just right. Bright, positive, cheeky with a hint of boyish innocence that seemed lost on everyone else. It kind of lifted up my day everytime I saw a hint of it round the corner of his lips. In Twilight, Edward says that Bella is his personal brand of heroin. I think I can finally relate to that...now. It felt like I lived to see his smile in that semester. On the final day of class, I said 'Hi'. He rewarded me with a smile.

Mode:
Fell in love with a smile. Just that, nothing more.

c.
I have weird study habits. I watch an episode of House or Criminal Minds to tune into my study mode. Previously, Gilmore Girls used to do the trick...then it got really sappy. After one good epsiode of hearing 'intelligence' sprouting around the screen, I feel that I'm ready to gain some knowledge of my own. I wonder sometimes how this actually works...Do I relate to geekiness or am I just a bonafide geek myself?

Mode:
I really can't stand Gossip Girl. I just watch it for the clothes, but the clothes aren't so great anymore. Now on the hunt for Fringe. Seems interesting.

d.
Financial independence is harder than it seems. I have yet to have a nett profit just yet. Hahahha! Kidding. I do have nett profits- just not the kind of numbers that I would like to see. While I do not (thank god) have any difficulty in the financial department, I thought it would be good just to see if I can survive on my own, for once. Note to self: CUT ALL SHOPPING EXPENSES and YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO THAT.

Mode:
Still longing for many 'I NEED' items on my shopping list. (Ahem) SELF CONTROL.

The Story So Far

The stillness of the air and the quiet voice of the wind is oddly comforting. Tis another night of endlessly surfing websites to obtain more, more, more information for projects...with some procastination in the form of fashion websites thrown in for a good measure! During such times, I suddenly relish in the stillness of early morning serenity. Sleeping housemates (only two accompanying me on my quest to view the first sunlight), warm water and a good chatting buddy on msn is all one needs for such nights. Simplistic and not overly crowded, or else, how is one going to actually get work done?

The only movement in my room, other than my typing fingers and roving eyes; is the whirl of the fan beside me. I don't know if this is hard to believe, but I need the sound of a moving fan to lull me to sleep. The effect is akin to babies and lullabies. Even with air-conditioning, I need some sort of noise to provide a stupor effect. Otherwise, the ringing in my ears gets too loud to bear.

The only productive thing I've done this Easter Hols is max up my enjoyment points. Heading out with my gals and random groups of friends, eating breakfast at 12 and getting away with it, just sitting in front of the laptop and randomly searching for places to eat, doing a 45 minute walk to Victoria Park (just for the sake of it) and totally kicking back and reveling in the word: Relaxation.

The thing is: I think I need to head to bed. Why? Because my lovely, caring mother sent me this scanned article from some health magazine which states that sleeping actually keeps you slim. Yes, its a diet aid. Who knew? The magazine then went on to say if you lack sleep, you have more appetite stimulants in your body thus the urge to eat more. All voiced down to hormones. -_- Underlying message from my mother, much?

The truth is, I am really geared up now for a whole instant noodle snack. Aiks. Is the appetite stimulant theory a fact or fiction, then?

Another Week, Another Sunday

First off, I think this has got to be the most relaxing week since I've been in Perth,
Just hopping around the city, looking for new sights and scenes,
coming back to a cozy hole, eating yoghurt and plums,
long walks with quirky finds.
Ah, I heart my Easter Hols.

But as always,
being the worrywart perfectionist-
Brain won't stop thinking of assignments!
There were, snitches of time...
(especially during msn conversations with Jen, facing the same problem!)
when work rears its ugly head!
So after today, its work work work once again...
Le sigh. But I think I'll miss being a student once its over.
Don't rush into things, take them as they come.

;)

Dissecting-Nothing.

I've noticed of late that my posts tend to be filled with pictures than words. Come to think of it, I 've begun to notice little random details that seem to fill my life now...as compared to before. Is it becaue I am now alone, out of my comfort zone, being an individual in a new place and world? Now, things that I used to take for granted present themselves in a whole new light. Or it just might be the change of seasons, the new cold tinge to the air, the foreign particles that I have been breathing in for more than a month. Whatever the cause, I realize that it might just be a good thing. A chance to rethink and regather- fractured thoughts, stray ends, hanging relationships, false lies and the chance to prove myself to the one person that matters- Me.

In line with the gut feeling of change and uneasiness, I tend to dissect random thoughts throughout the day. This one occured to me halfway through retail ownerships listing: So, I am finally getting older. Thanks to the individuals who kindly posted pre-birthday greetings...(I'm looking at you and you! You guys know who you are! Warm thoughts are so appreciated...but I think I'd rather trade for a day in Italy or Miri, just to be with you). I wonder: am I finally ready to be the big 2?

Somehow, apart from my incessant need to be or feel in control of every aspect of my life, I ponder the likelihood of ever feeling like a grown up. I may just be the most child-like grown up ever; appearance wise and thought-wise. The appearance I am slowly coming to terms with. The thought process...I don't think I want to change. I am thankful with the fact that I still get to view the world in a childlike state, partly I know of the ills and omens but I am still detached from feeling the true state of things. I see blue clouds instead of grey and try to find the light in dark situations. So for the past 20 years of my life, I have been truly blessed. I can't comprehend the hurt and the hopelessness that peers talk to me about...is it because I have yet to experience it myself? Will it all change now?

Will I decompose into another individual? Will I view more shades than merely black and white? Will I stop enjoying the feeling of wind on my face? Will I start to question life?

Pft, I sound afraid of my own birthday. Who has ever heard of pre-birthday blues? Then again, in moments like this, it helps to remember that not everyone come out of life attached to an emotional blackhole. No matter how old or how deluded with life they become. There are always those who tend to see the positive side of things, who pursue what they believe in, who never say never, who inspire and enjoy and never regret past decisions. Who take life as it comes. Essentially, who I would like to be.

I only hope that this turning of age will come with new discoveries, new challenges and new surprises- to always keep me wanting more and never less; from life.

So when the leaves turn brown...

We wish for it to be spring again.

Hence, the fickleness of human nature. I has been in study mode for too long. Decided to take a breather! And came across- this breath-taking picture of cherry blossoms. I have always loved cheery blossoms for their delicate petals that belie their strength. Their symbolism in both Chinese and Japanese culture. To me, it is the ultimate representation of female wisdom and strength! To be soft yet tough, to be fragile yet hardy.

;)

My secret dream is to fly to Japan and just stand under the blossoms as they fall come autumn. (hurh, so its not a secret anymore but hey! we all have wishful desires!)

Dreaming of things to come... is the only way of getting on with life. In a never-ending cycle, you dream, you achieve or fail and you dream yet again. My ongoing mantra. Its just that, once in a while, you get so buzzed up and busy and painfully occupied that you can't spend time idling away time dreaming. In those moments- I've always wondered how I get through...

Then again, isn't it mere human nature to continue onwards? No matter how long we stand still or pause, it is a mere stop. That stop isn't the end. We only reach the end when we die.

So, when this pitstop of assignments and studies end...I hope I can dream once again.
